Care of a new tuba

My many thanks to all of this group. You have been most helpful in my tuba education.

It looks likely that we will be buying the silver Getzen G50 for our high school son. Bottom line it is the one he has fallen in love with. Right now he sounds a bit better on the MW2145, but he seems highly motivated to prove he can fill the Getzen with enough air and "make it sing." I think it will help drive him to become a better player.

While he certinaly has performed maintenance on his rented tuba it seems like a good time to push our education up a notch on this subject. So I have a couple of questions:

1) I am sure this is a subject which has been covered someplace before. Can someone point me to a link?

2) Any recommndations on specific brands of oils, etc.

3) Any recommendations how to treat the finish of the tuba? Standard silver polish? Glass cleaner?
