I won my job with Miraphone 188 and 180 tubas. I now have an Alex 163 and a Yamaha YFB 641. I play the Yamaha exclusively in quintet, which is 50% of my salary. I play the Alex about 75% of the time in the orchestra. I use my Alex as my main freelance horn as well, unless the freelance work happens to be quintet.
For me, the division of labor is fairly even, with the F getting a bit more usage than the CC.
I almost always teach using the Alex.
