he's a dumbass. Doesn't sound like he's managing his thinly spread resources very well(13 members? One tuba could carry that band with both arms tied behind his/her back). It IS possible he could just be between a rock and a hard place. Or not. It's not like there has never before been an idiot band director who couldn't manage his band... We all know at least one director who can't find his butt with both hands. It just becomes extremely apparent when you can't hide behind the numbers. This young band member better just do the best she can and hang on for the ride. Find some playing opportunities outside of school, if possible.
