My suggestion would be to try a compound called Anhydrous Lanolin. This should be available from any pharmacy. Anhydrous Lanolin is a very thick grease that is very long lasting. I've used this grease on slides that had the same problem as yours and it worked everytime. After applying this grease to your slide it should move very slowly and smoothly but never work its way free by itself. I use this stuff on all my slides that basically stay stationary. It is also very cheap stuff, around $20.00 for a 1 pound tub which is at least a lifetime supply. This way, you can avoid bending the slide to fix it. Good luck!
