Ditto on the anhydrous lanolin. If your local drugstore can't get it for you, there are several places on the web where it can be ordered in 4 and 8 oz containers. I've put a link to one below.
If you want a still stiffer medium, try dissolving the lanolin in about the same quantity melted beeswax. A local shop here rolls their own slide grease by combining the two in an old crock pot and adding a third "secret ingredient"(I think it's silicone oil) to thin it to the desired "stiffness".
