I've decided to look into equipment to record myself with and am interested in people's feedback. I currently use one of those minicasette players to record myself and the sound quality is terrible and doesn't provide much in terms of feedback. I'm curious what medium is typically requested for auditions as well as what kind of microphone. What are your experiences with DAT or MiniDisc? Ideally I would like to get something that would allow me to create near professional quality but I suspect that my budget will ultimately dictate otherwise. Any suggestions regarding the best bang for the buck would be greatly appreciated.
