Joe, I believe that Dean Markley makes a half wound string that sounds like a flat-wound but has the articulation of a round-wound. If it's not Dean it's D'Addario. I would stick to a med or med-lite guage because the neck may not be set up for that kind of tension of a heavier string. I would also recc. the Carvin. Not only do they put out good products, their prices are great. If those are dead enders, check with Martin or Guild for some more ideas. Another great resource is Bass Central in FL.
