I also have this recording of the Planets. Personally, I think it to be one of the worst recordings I own. It is so heavily and badly edited that it is difficult to listen to. The mood between the cuts are so vastly different that you loose track of what is going on. The musicallity in general on the many many spliced together sections in uninspiring.
We are all allowed our personal opinions, but in my opinion, from a musical standpoint, the 1970 Zubin Mehta/LSO recording is one to dodge.
