That's too bad. Amtrak is one of the fastest and cheapest ways to send something like a tuba. I've had a very positive experience with Amtrak and tubas. I had David Fedderly send my tuba out on Amtrak on a Friday from Baltimore with arrival in Texas by the following Monday afternoon when I purchased it. I didn't have any issues like yours since mine was in an aluminum flight case, but I had to be pushing the weight limit.

Maybe you should have said something about tubas being shipped internationally from their makers to dealers in the same kind of giant cardboard boxes that you were sending yours in.
