The real book, if you get the ones that are not supposed to exist, are great. Get the real book volumes 1, 2, club book, and the revised. There will be lots of duplications, but there are some standards in each that are not in the other.

If you get the published one, (legally published ones), then watch out for wrong chords, bad structures, and lots of tunes you don't need. (also lots of tunes missing that you do want).

Some people will flame at this posting, claiming that the good real books, (not supposed to exist) are the worst ones. I greatly disagree. The mythical ones are more closely consistent with the original works, and are what more of the big name pros use.
