Yes, it was York and Sons. The knowledgable repair guy I had look at it (Bob Taylor here in Tucson) said it was made anywhere from the late 1800's to the very early 1900's. Thanks for the info on the tuning slide. I'm sure you are right about the high pitch instead of brass band pitch. Actually, with me playing it (which is a caveat) it sounded not very different from my 4-valve King euph. I had thought that if it was in good shape, I'd buy it and sell the King, since I don't really need 4 valves for what I do on euph, which is about nothing right now.
