I think it's important not to draw parallels between the two horns as in "OK, I have to play an Eb scale and this is an Eb tuba, so I play it just like a Bb scale on my BBb." Approach the horn as a completely different beast and learn it the way you'd learn a BBb if you didn't know any fingering.
IMOHO, any type of "it's just like ___ on my BBb" will eventually get in the way. You need to develop the line of thought that says "OK, this is an Eb and I'll play it like one".
