Transporting front-valve horns in a case can be a problem. Anytime I travel with a front-valve horn I either tape the pistons down or just unscrew the bottom caps and remove the springs. It's probably not such a good idea to instruct kids to remove the springs, but the duct tape over the finger buttons might help. Of course, this is not going to keep the valves from being bumped when carrying the horn through a doorway. I suspect this is how your horns are getting damaged.
