Articulation Flaw = Sore Throat ?

I recently picked up playing again after twenty years. I was initially pleased with
how much I remembered. It all came back, including perhaps a bad habit. I was
doing an articulation exercise, and discovered I have a tendancey to stop notes with
my voice box, rather than the tonque. You don't notice the effect much playing legato,
but try working articulation exercises and you suddenly feel the strain in the throat.
Now I have to retrain myself to maintain a vowel shape in the throat, while using the
tongue to do all articulation. Does this sound right?
