I caught most of the last movement, but nearly threw something at the TV when the local PBS station cut off the last 30 seconds or so. Talk about musicus interruptus! As usual, Deck and the rest of the brass section sounded great.

One question, however. I have been dissapointed with some of the NYP/Masur recordings I have purchased. They seem to be engineered so that the volume of the low brass section has been greatly reduced. In some cases, they sound like they're in the next room, they're so soft. It's not my sterio, and it's not just one recording. I have the Bruckner 7, Franck d minor, and others, and they are all the same. It's especially frustrating when comparing them to recordings like the Mehta Mahler 5, or the Sinopoli DGG recordings. Anyone else have similar experiences?
