Because York's numbering was simply sequential, without any year, month code, etc., the dates will be a 'range', especially for the really old horns. Yours must be much newer than mine, # 53401, which places it somewhere between 1913 and 1918. The two World Wars in the first half of the 20th century make it hard to date precisely, as factories had to cut back on brass consumption, and in some cases even made war stuff like shell casings and the like. York didn't keep great records.
