I don't want to sound sappy, but the 3 times I have played this piece I have had an almost religous experience. The last movement alone is one of the NICEST things written in music, particulary when the tuba comes in on the low Bb with the melody with the mens voices(they actually start 2 beats befroe the tuba entrance) in the last movement . The harp glissando leading into the section never fails to give me the shivers. Count yourself lucky to play this piece as I am afraid with todays economy many orchestras outside of the majors MAY have a tough time financing the big orchestra the piece calls for. I agree with Jay, the 5th, while a great piece, doesn't do it for me like the 2nd. I wish I could play the 6th someday.....
