While I am the proud owner of a CC, there are times in college wind ensembles where I wish I am holding a BBb. True, there are also times when I am glad I have a CC. The fact of the matter is, however, it is not life or death. The prospective owner is all but a freshman in high school. It is a good bet that he/she will be putting in alot of hours in a band setting, where the key signatures are right up the BBb alley. If and when the student decides they want to take it seriously and possibly make an orchestral career out of it (which is not a decision one usually makes at the age of 14) they can then make a decision on whether or not a CC horn is right for them. It will take them three weeks to learn the new fingerings and then they can move along with their life, wondering why they ever bothered to worry so much about it in the first place.
