Having just purchased a CC tuba after playing BBb forever, I have to agree with your comment:
"It will take them three weeks to learn the new fingerings and then they can move along with their life, wondering why they ever bothered to worry so much about it in the first place."
I think that generally we make a really big deal about the whole fingering thing while in reality it takes no time at all. After the first week playing my CC, I wondered why I worried about it so much to start with.
However, in this situation, I believe BBb is the way to go.
