Last year I purchased a mirafone 188 5-v CC for $650 from a pawn shop. It was too good to be true. When the local police called me to get it back to the local symphony guy it was stolen from, I was VERY cooperative. I can see the headlines now, "Local Band Director arrested for trafficking in stolen goods". The police didn't catch it sooner because the pawn shop entered the serial # as a model # instead. So when they cross checked pawn shop files with police reports there was no match. I "guess" that was a plausible explanation, what with the way mirafone puts serial #s on the bell like that. Somehow the seargent didn,t see it that way. Another BD (and mutual friend) was talking at a sym rehearsal about what a good deal a friend of his got on a tuba(ME). Bill Acuff (symphony guy) was REAL intersted and called me to check ser. #'s. Oh Well... easy come easy go
