I remember playing on something that roughly resembled today's instument at the tuba shindig at Lexington, KY quite a few years ago...during the end of the era when Don Getzen himself was showing the B & M (not Marzan labeled) tubas.

Willi was there and was watching me play "the Ride" (What the heck else do you play on a CC in a room full or tuba-rumbling-garbage-noise?) on his CC. I was polite and gracious to Mr. Kurath, and that tuba (probably called a "Perantucci" model) was very loud and responsive, but it didn't jingle my car keys like the current vintage Willson CC ((AT) $9600.) does.
