When it comes to Gold vs Silver plating, my experience is the silver plating lasts longer.
I have,t noticed that much of a difference in the playing characteristics between the two types of plating.
DO NOT fall into the trap as I did of having your MP Chrome plated, it is like playing a horn with your lips super glued to the MP. ( I had a friend who offered to get my MP replated cheap) DON"T GO THERE!!!
