I believe most major or full-time orchestras, and I would think a number of part time ones will have at least one trombonist in the section who plays euphonium. Bydlo is only one of a handful of works which require this instrument. Since the trombones are tacet in Bydlo, it shouldn't be necessary to hire an outside player. In Chicago for example, I believe that over the years Bydlo has made the rounds through Jay Freidman, Jim Gilbertson, and Mike Mulcahy, as well as the Reiner recording which featured Bob Lambert. And let's not forget that Arnold Jacobs played it too, and recorded it twice, with Kubelik, and Ozawa. And we can be certain that if he hasn't already done so, Gene Pokorny would give quite a rousing Bydlo as well.
