Of course you have to draw the line somewhere. But Bb is not it. I used to use a BERP too just because it was easy and convenient. But imagine what your sound will do if you can repeatedly buzz (not in duration) a low G. Air support and tone will show vast improvement over time with this.
Maybe I shouldn't make a blanket statement for all professionals but the ones I have learned buzzing techniques and such from have never let me practice buzzing with a finger or hand over the hole. Sure you run out air quickly. Take another breath! Air is free!
