If there are two sets of ports on the valves, and if there is a tube that crosses over from the third valve to the first, then it is compensating. An uncompensated tuba will have one and only one tubing loop on each valve.

But, frankly, I've never heard of an Imperial that wasn't compensating. That was Boosey and Hawkes' top-of-the-line instrument before the Sovereign came out.
