The bell on these things is the usual solid Besson bell, but weight has been removed from the bottom and top bows by thinning them and shrinking or eliminating guards that used to be customary on Boosey basses. In particular, the guard cap on the bottom bow is smaller than usual, and the top bow completely lacks one--just has a guard wire. This ain't your daddy's Imperial tank-of-a-tuba.
