That is the Holton Joe S. did many years ago. If I remember, Dave Tucker bought this horn and sold it also. I'm pretty sure it started as a BBb. I believe that Mr S. did not keep it due to an "unusable" open G at the bottom of the staff, something like 20 cents or more out of tune.
Cosmetically the horn is beautiful, and Joe did an exquisite job of retapering the branches after they were cut down to make the horn as conical as possible.
I am curious as to the playing characteristics before the surgery, but I'm pretty sure I already know (unusable open F).
