I think you are wrong about the effects of warm-up for brass players. When I begin warm-up, my lips are stiff and I cannot produce a good tone. There is nothing wrong with the air flow; it's the same as ever. My tone quality gets better and better for at least the first hour, and especially in the low range, which is nearly absent when I start playing. It seems evident to me that embouchure elasticity is increasing, but I have no idea if this is because of augmented circulation or some other factor. This need for a long warm-up gets more pronounced each year. I'm 65 now.
