Check out the thread below titled "Intonation Question", first posted by "Tom" on 3/24/99 where there was a discussion about such a device. Costs will vary from technician to technician, I paid $100 for mine and I've been led to believe that was a little low. The device works best with a vertically oriented slide but I've seen it on horizontal ones as well. Your slide would probably need to be pumiced a little to loosen it up and then you would need to use a thinner (and faster) grease than what you probably use now. I use cold cream on mine and it works great. If you have a tuba that has intonation problems (and who doesn't?) and you're tired of moving from valve slide to valve slide, the main slide stick is a great alternative. I have one on all of my instruments. Good luck!
