For cosmetic reasons alone, I'm interested in having the inside of my tuba bell gold plated, along with the outer rim. I've looked in the archives, but didn't find much info on the subject. What I'd like to know is whether anyone's had any experience with this, and if and how will it effect the sound of my horn. I'm playing on a silver Willson 3050, and it's got a great sound right now. I don't want to take away from that, so if any of you have any bad experiences with this, or have seen any negative aspects of having it done (besides dropping a couple of hundred dollars for it) I'd like to get your input. If you feel like you need to make a joke about it, that's fine too. Just to let you know my reasoning, I like the way the gold accents make a horn look. Seeing that boston cornet on Oberloh's website got me, and an added bonus to getting it done would be not having to polish it, ever. Thanks in advance to all you guys and gals for your advice.
