As I recall, Rich Matteson used to play a MW rotary euphonium when hired to play concerts/jazz clinics and supplimented his income by having MW tubas for sale in the back of his station wagon.

You know CK, comparing what you and I paid back then and how few tuba vendors there were and how inconvenient-to-access tuba vendors were back then,

considering the convenience of shopping on the internet, polling dime-a-dozen (but at least available) opinions on tubenet, and adjusting for inflation , tubas are WAY WAY cheaper today (possibly under $1000 in your 1972 $$'s) and far easier to find and buy...not to mention the incredibly wide selection for the incredibly microscopic market.
