The 20" bell and branches of the G50 were modeled after the York/Yorkmaster 4/4 horns by Bob Rusk (the designer of the horn) A good example of a G50-size with 3/4" bore is at Baltimore Brass right now (Bohm&Meinl BBflat) Oddly, NO ONE builds a horn of this size currently, it's a true 5/4 along most definitions, and really a fab all-around-sized horn of the "American-style" persuasion. My CC Bohm&Meinl is built this way. The design with that bore size is VERY free-blowing and has an awesome, easily-speaking low register. lowest D and Dflat (5 lines below the staff) just pop right out (as privledge notes, fingered 1 and 1-2 respectively)

Rick Denney has a web page which has a ton of photos, though the topic is 6/4 horns there's pics of his 3/4" bore YorkMaster, as well as my B&M. Oh, if you wanna discuss this more, feel free to drop me an e-mail

Best,

dp
