hmmm. I honestly doubt that the folks on the audition committee will care what kinda tuba you are playing since they aren't tuba players (but they are musicians).
Looking at (or better yet, listening to) what the previous player in that orchestra played (and how he or she played it) might give one a better idea of what the members of that orchestra think a tuba should sound like.
If that guy or gal was playing a BAT, so be it.
