I recently bought a new Mirafone 1261 Eb tuba with a gold brass bell and lacquer finish. The sound and intonation are great. However, I noticed a pinhead size patch of reddish (? rose) colored stuff on the up side of the donut part of 4th valve tubing. It is under te inside of the lacquer and you can feel a very small bump over the site. I cannot see into inside of the bend far enough to see if the reddish color goes all the way through or begins on the inside. Is this the dreaded red rot? I read somewhere that it is possible to get reddish discolorations under the lacquer that are not always due to red not. If it is red rot whar can I do. I can probably still return the horn (WW&BW). Any input would be appreciated.
