The US Navy Band did it last year. It is a 5 mile march and the 2000 parade was finished for us in 1 hour 35 minutes. If you are mid-way through the parade or later, you will see lots of horse poop and it's the smelliest poop you will EVER experience. The horses eat the flowers that are on some of the floats and this is the reason it is green and smelly. Work on taking big steps because you will FLY through the parade.

The TV cameras are located at the very beginning of the parade. There are only 2 turns, the first is a right turn and the second is a left. The first happens at the very beginning and the second at the very end. You'll know when you near the end of the parade, because you'll see people holding signs that say, "Smile, you're halfway through!" Trust me, it's a long parade, but you won't notice it because it will go so fast and you'll get free water and food at the end.

The neatest part of the parade was the beginning because the HS kids would come up to us a talk to us. They were all incredibly nice and even wanted to hear us play. Because we don't have 9 tubas in the band (only 5), we had to get persons who *never* played Tuba to carry one. Some of the kids didn't know this (duh) and they would ask them to play. Our string bass player said "Sure", belted out a few notes and the kids walked away saying "Hey, I'm better than that dude!" It was pretty funny and the trip turned out to be fun too.
