I'm a high school student who has recently been looking
to buy or rent a tuba. I'm a converted baritone player, so
I have never made an effort to learn to play a BBb tuba. However,
some recent inquiries have returned some interesting responses, the
validity of which I question. Here are some things I was told:
- CC tubas are never made with more than 3 valves
- "I can't believe they even allowed a CC in the All-State Band"
- Orchestral tubists don't use CC tubas
I hate to bring up an issue that has been beaten to death but my
knowledge of such issues outside of actually playing the
instrument is way behind my musical ability. Any clarification/
verification/whatever would be greatly appreciated.
