I think that we as the instrument buying community do ourselves a giant disservice when we consider buying a horn like this because it's a good "deal". The "deal" that we have made is a long term one, in that we have told the people who have stolen this one that they have a market, and have thereby given our permission to steal another one. When we all decide that we won't buy a questionable horn, the people who steal them will find another line of work. I'm sure there are people reading this thinking that if they don't take a great "deal" that someone else will. These people are absolutely correct. However, when teachers don't let their students buy these horns, and friends don't let their friends buy these horns, we can slowly but surely give people no market to sell a questionable horn. What do we get for not buying stolen horns? Peace of mind. We're not worried that our own horn will be stolen, what would somebody do with it? Peace. ASG
