It just occurred to me that there could be some emails that really cannot be properly answered.

A nationally prominent trombone player had a copy of a received email sitting on his music stand - apparently to entertain any of us who might have been nosy enough to peer at it.

"Hey Mr. ********,

I was listening to your c.d. "*** ************ *********" and I can't quite get the same type of sound that you got on your recording. I was wondering what type of mics you were using, how they were placed, and what type of room you were recording in.

[explanation to tubenet: This trombone player is also on the faculty of a very prominent school of music in a very large city.]

What do you think my chances are [perfect stranger] of getting into ********** ?

Cheers,

My point is:

If received (transferring the situation to a customer/vendor situation), how does one properly (or politely, for that matter) answer an email like that?
