Howdy fellow tubenetters,
The recent thread on practicing scales in band rehearsal got me thinking. Here in PA there are not many schools that have band scheduled every day in the school day. I would think that if kids had band rehearsal every day, a majority of them would leave the horns in the locker rooms every night and not practice at home. Now granted many of the kids at our school do the same thing, but we really try to instill the notion of practicing on your own. Taking the music and horn home and practicing at home.
Now I know at first I would think WOW! Band every day that would be great! But after about the 120th band rehearsal of the year I would think I would be getting a bit tired of it, let alone the kids in the band. Don't get me wrong I love band as much as the next guy, but even still. Any thoughts from those of you who have gone through a program like this. I guess you really have to do technique excercises and other things just to break up the monotony of it all.
