Both are greaat examples of very good 3/4 tubas. The 1271 is a little less pro like in that there is no bell ring. The pistons are stainless and are very good. Both tubas are slightly small sounding but they are 3/4 tubas. Both play well and have very good intonation. Both are the same size and weight one with pistons and the other with rotarys.

They even have the same wrap till you get to the valves. The 182 rotor plays a little more open in the lower register and both are good in the middle and upper register.
Both are built like tanks, lot of bracing and are pretty heavy for their size and just looking at them. They would take a pretty good beating in any situation.

These are like cadillacs or mercedes in 3/4 4 valve tubas and therefore the price is not as cheap as some of the 3/4's out there.
