Hmm, interesting thread.
How does "sound" differ from "intonation"...or "facility" for that matter??
If I am way sharp in relation to the tbn section, the intonation is off,
and it "sounds" BAD. Likewise if I have a cumbersome horn that speaks slowly
and I am not on top of the tempo...the "facility" is off and it "sounds" bad.

Is sound timbre? color? overtones? warm? bright? does it "slot"? "center"?
does it have context or is "sound" innate? I have a tough time relating
my sound in my living room to the occasional compliments I get in the hall,
whats up with that? Am I talking about a different "sound" here now? My sound
versus the horn?

Sincerly, confused. ;^}
