In lip flexibility exercises done on each possible fingering, the ones with a lot of tubing engaged are demanding more air. Which could be seen as a bit surprising, as the resistance is greater.

This is basically the same observation, as that done by Joe S. on the "back side" keys. If a brass ensemble can get these keys played in tune, the benefit can be an experience of a non-brassy, but still very clear sound. Probably an extra level of upper partials brought to sound by the higher pressure needed to counteract the added resistance.

BBb tubas shortened to BBnatural probably have a shorter cylindrical part of the overall tubing. In it self a fact making them more ideal tubas.

The experience of playing ease obtained in "home" key is the very reason why trumpet players are buying instruments Bb, C, D, Eb, and more.
