I wonder if the 4th valve on German tubas was intended to be used as a flat 13 substitution across the board. After all, on some very old German tubas, you will find the 4th valve being a 23 combination, not a 13. Just a thought...
And thanks for the F=235 tip, Matt. I sat down with my 186 and found that 235 is just a tiny bit better than 124.
