I played, and still have, a 186BB for years and then I found a nice 982Eb that was too good a deal to pass up. I love that horn to death and play it most of the time now. It took a couple of weeks to get the new fingerings down. I still have an occasional brain cramp where I will use BBb fingerings on some notes. When I find a good CC that I just can't pass up and I'm ready to part with my cash I will add it to my stable of horns.
Find the horn you like. Learning the fingerings of a new key of horn takes a week or two at the most and really should not be a consideration in getting a horn. That's what I think from my experience, anyway.
