Anyone get taken with A reciprocating tax law a few years ago at the TE when they were audited? They (north carolina) had an agreement with several states to tax merchandise shipped to other southern states. What this amounted to was a tax that I was unware that I had to pay coming due two and 1/2 years later in the form of a letter from the state of Tennessee and an assessment of penalties for not paying the tax. Upon contacting V**** at TE he said that it was my responsibility for paying the tax even though the horn was bought and shipped across state lines. What this amounted to for me was about $500 in tax + 150 in penalties. Talk about being taken. Vince only realized this after an IRS audit of his finances. I gladly would have paid the said tax if I had been initialy charged it. Anyway, just wondering if anyone else was caught with this unique TE experience.
