Those are some very good points, but I'm going to disagree on one thing. Going to a big school does have some good points, but you need to have a couple of things first. I definately would say that having the profesor give you lessons not some grad. assistant should be your highest priority. From a performance stand point having a big studio and highly competitive ensembles to get into are a positve. It gives you a measuring stick, if your not the best player in your studio how do you expect to win an audition in the real world. It provides you with a little incentive to practice, plus you learn alot from having good players with good practice habits in your studio. This competition can serve as a preview of what is to come at professional auditions, and might help you decide if you want to change your major to ed., or anything else. Just my $0.02
