The management has asked the symphony to take a 7.4% pay cut, and the musicians refused, so that is why they are on strike. Right or wrong, they are going to have a hard time winning any support from the people of Houston. Houston has been devistated by layoffs, and and Texans already don't have much patience for union strikes.
