You know, Mary Ann, even some of us less "lilliputian" folks have trouble comfortably holding a goliath 6/4 tuba. A tuba tamer or other such stand could really make playing a large instrument within the realm of possibility for you. Go aheaed, dive in. Don't deny your inner tuba child. Nurture it.
