Conn 20K sousaphones: consistently voted the "best sousaphone there is" on this bbs

short-action valves on Conn 20K sousaphones: severely distort the bore of the instrument into an oval. obviously no detrimental effect on the sound since the 20K is consistently voted "best sousaphone there is" (hmmm, those silver-vs.-lacquer-effects-on-sound posts seem pretty silly compared to non-detrimental severe bore distortions, huh?)

new King/Conn 5XJ CC tubas: OK, if short-action valves have no detrimental effect on the sound, why didn't King/Conn mount their already-front-action-oriented short-action .734" (large bore) valve-set on their "new" (factory cut-down) CC tuba, instead of the same old .687" (small bore) King valve-set, since they have access to both?
