A half step in equal temperament is 100 cents. This is true in the lowest range or the highest range. The cycles per second (Herz) vary with range but not the size of the half step. The frequency for A2, that is the second A below middle C is 110 Hz and the change in frequency for a half step is almost 100 Hz (Ab2 = 103 Hz & A2 = 110 Hz) so roughly one cycle is the same as one cent in this range so a 5 cent change in pitch would be heard easily and be way out of tune.

The position of your slides to play in tune with a machine may not be the same to play in tune in band and can be different again in orchestra. You just have to figure out what works best.
